Charalampos Simantonis

Charalambos Simantonis has served as President of the Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association (HSSA) since 2012, having been a member of its Board of Directors since 2004. Since 2024, he has also served as President of the European Shortsea Network (ESN), the European network dedicated to promoting, developing, and strengthening the integration of shortsea shipping into the intermodal transport chain.

He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping since 2010. He also serves on the RINA Shipowners Committee and the BCA Academic Committee, and has previously been a member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Seamen’s House (Oikos Naftou).

In parallel, he serves as President and CEO of Silver Bulk SA, a shipping company specializing in dry bulk vessel management, and Med Ferry Shipping Co, which operates pallet vessels and roll-on/roll-off (RO/RO) ships.

Born in Piraeus into a shipping family with a long-standing tradition in passenger shipping, he studied Shipping Economics at the Instituto Universitario Navale di Napoli in Italy.
